*****ENTERTAINMENT FOR MAY HAS BEEN UPDATED BELOW - YOU MAY ALSO FIND THIS INFORMATION ON THE GOOGLE CALENDAR ON THE WEBSITE

Phenomonal weather predicted for the coming week! Perfect opportunity to stop by Harpersfield for a bit of wine and some great music. This week we welcome Jake & Betsy on Friday evening, Saturday it is the smokin' blues of Wayne Bell & The Superstars and on Sunday afternoon the blues and swing of Rhythm Syndicate. Entertainers will be on the patio - weather permitting.

Also, in the next couple of weeks, we will be releasing a few more wonderful whites from our 2011 vintage. Look for Chardonnay " Cuvee sans Chene, Rose' and Gewurztraminer. There are limited quantities of Gewurztraminer - it will be gone all too soon!

Be sure to stop by the tasting room to taste our newest release from the 2011 harvest - a smooth, sultry Gruner Veltliner - the first all estate release of this interesting white wine. The perfect "sipper" for warm spring days. Team Harpersfield planted Gruner Veltliner in spring of 2005. This release has certainly been a long time coming! First it was the frost and then came the deer to have a tasty supper of ripe Gruner that stood in the way of a bottling of this wine. Just what is Gruner Veltliner? Gruner is the most widely planted grape in Austria, accounting for 37% of the countries total wine production. planting this variety in Ohio is a no-brainer, considering the the climate similarities. What can you expect from your glass of Gruner? A pleasant aroma, essence of peach and a hint of citrus with a slight peppery finish. Easy to enjoy and very food friendly.

***The on-line google calendar has been updated*** The calendar can be viewed by clicking the link on this site Just for ease, we have listed our guest musicians for the month of April below..

GUEST MUSICIANS FOR MAY 2012

ALL ENTERTAINERS PERFORM FRIDAY/SATURDAY 7;30 TO 10:30 AND SUNDAYS 3 - 6

*****The tasting room will be open Noon to 8pm on Monday, May 28th to celebrate the slow kick off to summer!

Friiday, May 11 - Neil Jacobs

Saturday, May 12 - The Elm Street Blues Band

***Sunday, May 13 - Mary Taylor Brooks Band**** Welcome the fabulous Miss Brooks for the first Sunday show of the season!!!!

Friday, May 18 - Jake & Betsy

Saturday, May 19, - Wayne Bell & The Superstars - darn good Blues!!!!

Sunday, May 20 - Rhythm Syndicate

Friday, May 25 - Blue Lunch

Saturday, May 26 - The Hollywood Slim Band

Sunday, May 27 - The Becky Boyd Band

It certainly has been a month full of grape vine drama! The roller coaster weather of the past few weeks has created concern for Team Harpersfield. We rely STRICTLY on our own fruit to produce ALL of our wines. Anything that impacts grape production - impacts Harpersfield with a vengence. At the start of the week, the fickle Ohio weather gave us overnight temperatures of 22 degrees - we were granted a stay of execution as we have nothing budding at this point. So, for the moment - it is all still fabulous at Harpersfield Vineyards!!!

With a heavy heart (and a sometimes empty wine glass), we must inform you that our Chardonnay "St. Vincent" 2007 and the luscious Pinot Noir Reserve have been placed on the endangered species list...... There are only a few cases of these equsite wines. What to do? Obtain a bottle or two for your celler before they disappear! Of course, we still have our Pinot Noir "Clos me Amis" and our Chardonnay "Fut de Chene" available.....

The "BIG NEWS" ...... Team Harpersfield has begun bottling a bit of our 2011 Vintage. These white wines will appear in the tasting room in the next few weeks. Pinot Gris, Chardonnay "Cuvee sans Chene", Rose' and a few suprises (HINT - Think white, light and full of fruit)

SPRING/SUMMER HOURS

...... a gentle reminder - the kitchen closes one half hour before the tasting room does!

Monday & Tuesday - closed

Wednesday - Noon to 8pm

Thursday - Noon to 8pm

Friday & Saturday - Noon to 11 pm

Sunday - Noon to 6pm - Sunday, May 6th our Summer Sunday Hours commence! The Tasting Room will be open Noon to 8pm

A gentle reminder - We don't care if you smoke - just PLEASE find an ashtray!!!! We do have them!

CELLAR NEWS....

Well, it just happens - we are sold out of a few things! Being an estate winery has certain limitations. One of those being - when it's gone it's gone! No, we don't have any bottles "hidden in the back". Of course, the good news is we will begin bottling a few things from the 2011 harvest at some point in March 2012. All of your favorites will be back with a vengeance! Harpersfield being Harpersfield - there will also be a few surprises to flow out of the cellar. The harvest of 2011 was a challenge - to say the least - but we managed to pull it off and you can expect wonderful wines to appear in 2012.

Terrier Update - April 11 , 2012

Resist the urge.......... Please don't feed the terriers! It has started again. We carefully watch what the kids eat.

There are always questions about the collars on the kids - those are NOT shock collars for behavior modification - those collars are for the electric fence that runs behind the tasting room - the kids can only go so far.........

Let's all use our party manners - we really don't care if you enjoy the company of your furry friend in the outside seating areas - plase DO NOT bring your friend into the tasting room.

Where are the terriers? On Friday and Saturday evenings the kids go home! Too much confusion for them......

Please don't feed the terriers! We understand that can be a dificult thing NOT to do but a fat terrier is an unhealthy terrier. Matilda just had her healthy doggie check up and seemed to have gained 2.5 pounds! That adds up tp a whole lot of cheese chunks! Healthy dogs live a longer fuller life and we need Matilda and Toby to make us happy for a very long time.

Here at Harpersfield, guests frequently ask questions about our furry friends. We have two Jack Russell Terriers that may or may not greet you as you arrive. (they are terriers - something else may have their attention) Toby (the white with brown markings) is soon to three. He appears to be the more intelligent of the two. He is a very serious little man. Matilda (the fuzzy one!) turned two in November. Matilda is just a silly little bundle of energy! We were given Matilda by winery guests that had Jack Russell pups. The kids come to the winery with us everyday and enjoy the interaction and attention. We have recently started to take them home on Friday and Saturday evenings - to many people for them! They seem to get some sort of performance anxiety! We do ask that you do not feed them. There is nothing more unattractive than half-digested pizza crust and wads of cheese being regurgitated on the end of my bed. We love them dearly and their health is very important to us.
